Introduction

The PhD program in Crises and Humanitarian Management is an advanced, interdisciplinary research degree designed to address the growing complexities of managing crises and humanitarian challenges in today’s global environment. This program prepares scholars to lead and innovate in the fields of disaster response, humanitarian aid, and resilience-building, equipping them with the skills needed to assess, design, and implement effective strategies in response to crises such as natural disasters, conflicts, pandemics, and forced migration.

Focusing on both theoretical and practical aspects, the curriculum covers topics including disaster risk reduction, humanitarian logistics, conflict resolution, public health in crises, and policy analysis. Candidates engage with real-world challenges through research, simulations, and case studies, gaining a deep understanding of the social, political, and economic factors that impact humanitarian efforts. This program emphasizes a holistic approach, integrating insights from fields such as international relations, public health, law, and environmental science to prepare students for the multifaceted nature of crises management.

Admission Requirement:

 Candidates must have a minimum of five credits in WAEC, NECO or GCE Ordinary Level which must include English Language and Mathematics.

  1. Candidates should have M.A/M.Sc in Crises and Humanitarian Management or any other relevant course from University of Abuja or any other recognized University.
  2. Candidates with sufficient professional experience and training in relevant fields but without some of the requirements above are encouraged to apply.

Duration and Delivery Mode

The Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Crises and Humanitarian Management course shall consist of both contacts and online (Hybrid) delivery for a minimum period of 36 months (3 years) and a maximum of 60 months (5 years).

Students in Take: Every April and November

Fee Structure: N650, 000 Per Session. Opportunity for installmental payment is available. Initial payment of 50% and the balance at two equal instalments
